Good Dog Chow

Step 1. We must make time every morning to fuel our souls. It does not have to be complicated; just get into the Bible and stay a while.

Step 2. Learn to pray by praying. There are no set rules; just talk to God like you would to a close friend. Be honest and tell Him what you think. God knows your heart, so it does no good to blow smoke; God knows you better than you know yourself.

Step 3. The old natured in us the the bad dog, so we have to take a firm grip on Proverbs 4:23 which says, “Watch your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” We all know what feeds the bad dog: cursing, anger, lying, bad attitudes, disobedience, or thoughts not focused on doing right. It simple, we simply need to avoid this stuff!

Step 4. We need to be accountable to someone. Trying to go solo is just asking for a lot of trouble. Find a friend who’s a good example to help you feed the good dog and starve the bad one. The better we are at feeding the good dog, the more Christlike we’ll become.

Remember, Godliness is always the fruit of right choices!

Parents, Let’s remember that our children are watching us. It is our responsibility to set good examples. We need to set the example of having a daily Quiet Time. They need to see you spending time alone with the Lord. If they sense it’s important to you, it will be important to them!
